The Rep Announces Local Auditions: Jar The Floor

Auditions will be held in Little Rock at The Rep’s Education Annex located at 518 Main St., Little Rock, AR 72201 on the evening of Wednesday, November 16th, 2016.

Jar the Floor
is a heartwarming dramatic comedy about four generations of African American women, and a friend of the youngest, who come together to celebrate the 90th birthday of the family’s matriarch. 

Actors will be required to read one side from the script for the character for which they wish to be considered.  Audition sides can be found at http://www.therep.org/work-with-us/auditionsides.aspx

Rehearsals begin March 7, 2017, opening is March 31, and closing is April 16.  All roles paid.  Seeking actors for the following roles:

ROLES TO BE SEEN

  • ·         MADEAR - (African American) Mother of Lola, grandmother of Maydee and great-grandmother of Vennie. Her 90th birthday celebration is the focus of the play.
  • ·         LOLA - (African American) Daughter of MaDear, Mother of MayDee and grandmother of Vennie is a woman who does everything in excess but not necessarily in good taste or with tact. Mid 60’s
  • ·         VENNIE - (African American) Granddaughter of Lola, daughter of MayDee and great-granddaughter of MaDear, Vennie is an ambitious dreamer who aspires to be a singer. Late 20’s
  • ·         RAISA - (Caucasian) A “friend” who arrives with Vennie to the 90th birthday celebration. She recently and visibly has had her breast removed due to breast cancer. 30’s
