Arkansas Repertory Theatre (LORT D) will have an additional date for local auditions for its 2016-2017 production of A Christmas Story at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 31.  Parents or guardians who wish to set up an audition appointment for their child should email Katherine Tanner, Education Associate, at ktanner@therep.org and put “Christmas Story Young Artist Audition Request” as the subject of the email. The deadline to schedule an appointment is 5 p.m. Monday, May 30.

Auditions will consist of reading sides from the script which will be provided ahead of the audition.

Rehearsals begin on November 8, opening is December 2, and closing is December 24, with a possible extension to January 1, 2017.  Seeking actors between the ages of 8 and 13 for the following roles:

Ralphie Parker (10 years old):  A young dreamer and schemer. A regular boy with a strong presence. Seeking a smart, young actor with stage experience to carry the show.

Randy (8 years old):  Ralphie's younger, smaller brother. Cute and offbeat but a serious headache.

Schwartz (10 years old): One of Ralphie's two best friends. A scapegoat.

Flick (10 years old):  One of Ralphie's two best friends. A guinea pig. Gets his tongue frozen to the flagpole.

Scut Farkas (12 years old):  The dreaded schoolyard bully who routinely torments Ralphie and friends. Bigger and meaner than the other boys.

Helen Weathers (10 years old):  Ralphie's classmate.  The smartest girl in class. The boys also know that she can beat them up.

Esther Jane Alberry (10 years old):  Ralphie's classmate with a particular interest in Ralphie.  Sweet, cute and smart.

A Christmas Story is written by Philip Grecian; directed by Mark Shanahan.
